Will - 1749 (Dublin)

In the name of God amen I Thomas Harrison of the city of Dublin being weak in body but of sound mind and memory do make and publish this as my last will and testament first bequeathing my soul to almighty God through the merits of my blessed saviour to receive eternal joy

My will is that all my just debts be first paid and that I be decently buried at the discretion of my executor hereafter mentioned

Item I give and bequeath to my sister Elizabeth Collister half a guinea and no more

I give and bequeath to my sister Elizabeth Collister’s children one English shilling a piece and to all my other relations one English shilling apiece and if they demand it and no more

I give and bequeath to my dear beloved wife Ann Harrison all my realty?, money, household goods, parts of gabbarts, my house and garden in Douglas in the Isle of Man with the rent now due and all debts due to me to have, hold and peaceably enjoy to my said wife Ann Harrison whist she shall continue a widow.

Lately I constitute and appoint my dear beloved wife Ann Harrison my sole executrix revoking all former wills by me made

In witness whereof I do hereby publish this as my last will and testament as witness my hand and seal this seventh day of March one thousand, seven hundred and forty-seven. Thomas Harrison.

To our beloved in Christ Thomas Corlett of Douglas in the Isle of Man, Carpenter, administration of all and singular the goods, rights, credits and chattels of Ann Harrison late of the city of Dublin, widow deceased intestate, who was whilst living sole executrix principal legatee named in the last will and testament of Thomas Harrison late of the city of Dublin aforesaid deceased

Greeting

Whereas the deceased Thomas Harrison as aforesaid deceased did in his lifetime rightly and duly make his last will and testament in writing thereunto annexed wherein he nominated, constituted and appointed the said Ann Harrison sole Executrix and afterwards died

Whereas the said Ann Harrison died without taking upon her the burden of the execution of the said will and we being desirous that the said will should be performed and have its due effect do therefore by these presents grant full power and authority to you, the said Thomas Corlett, in whose fidelity we confide an administrator all and singular the goods, rights, credits and chattels of the said Thomas Harrison deceased according to the contents of the said will and also to ask, demand, collect, recover and receive whatever credits belonged to the said deceased at the time of his death and to pay the debts and legacies of the said deceased so far forth as such goods, rights, credits and chattels will thereunto extend and the law requires you being first sworn on the hole evangelist in due form of law well and faithfully to administer and dispose of all and singular the goods, rights, credits and chattels of the said deceased and the same so made to exhibit or cause to be exhibited unto the Registry of our Consistorial and Metropolitan Court of Dublin on or before the last day of February next ensuing and also to return a true and just account thereof into our said Court when you shall be thereunto lawfully required.

And we do by the tenor of these presents nominate, make, ordain and constitute you, the said Thomas Corlett, administrator of all and singular the goods, rights, credits and chattels of the said Thomas Harrison deceased according to the contents of his said will, saving the right of every person whatever In testimony whereof we have caused the seal of our Consistory and Metropolitical court of Dublin to be hereunto affixed. Dated the sixteenth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand, seven hundred and forty-nine

At a Chapter Court held in Douglas October 16, 1749 The testator Thomas Harrison having departed this life in Dublin naming his wife Ann Harrison to .. as appears by an authentic copy of his will with administrative annex dated the 16th August ….
